Beautiful Distractions: Reflections on Life and Love in the Four Walls We Called Home

Six years ago, my husband Cory and I took the plunge and bought our first home together. It was a big step, but one that we were excited to take. We knew that this house would be where we would make our memories, raise our daughter, and create a sense of family.

As soon as we moved in, Cory set to work on the outdoor projects that he had always dreamed of. He built a pole barn, completely by himself, and turned it into a workshop for all of his projects. He also built me a she-shed in the backyard, a space for me to work on my woodworking projects. And, of course, he couldn't resist building a backyard bar.

I focused on making the inside of our home a warm and welcoming place. I renovated every room with love, taking the time to choose the perfect paint colors and decorations that reflected our style as a couple. I wanted every room to feel like it was a part of us, and I think I did that. And yall, I have to brag because my husband has incredible taste and he is my go-to for advise and his opinions!

Our daughter has spent her most formative years in this house, and it's been such a joy to watch her grow and change within these walls. She's now a senior in high school, and it's hard to believe how quickly the time has flown. But I'm grateful that she has had the opportunity to spend her childhood in a home that feels like a true reflection of who we are as a family.
